Betty Page story and pictures with Dollface Bettys

I've been a Betty Page fan since back in the day!
I’ve been a Betty Page fan since back in the day!

Welcome to the photographer interview with Tammy Cochran of Dollface Bettys. As you’ll find in the interview, she’s the beauty and the brains behind the business in every facet. Enjoy!

1. Why photography when it comes to self expression and release of creativity?

I'm working here!

I would say that photography is what I use to capture my creativity, it’s the looking glass into the   actual creative atmosphere I live in. The true self expression is in the clothing I create and then incorporating it into the pin up shoot……the final product.

2. Who’s work do you admire?

Really, this is work!

Really, this is work!

    Vargas, Elvgren, Bunny Yeager

3. Where does inspiration come from?

You know, the hair pins, skirts and wraps are for sale on Etsy.com

You know, the hair pins, skirts and wraps are for sale on Etsy.com

1940′ pin ups, war era, hot rods, rat rods, rockabilly culture, Hollywood Starlets

4. What are your favorite types of shoots/scenes setups? Indoors or outdoors?

This skirt is available on Etsy in time for the holidays!

Pin up shoots are my favorite! Old Hollywood Glamour….

5. Tell me the story of how you got started in photography?

I'm a runner, can you tell?

It was not intentional. I had the great idea of everyday women, everyday moms and housewives to be able to step out of the box for a day and into a world of glamour…a pin up for a day… being pampered  with hair, make-up, a fabulous wardrobe to pick from to top it off with a photo shoot capturing them as a vintage pin up. The idea was great but after working with a photographer on the project I knew it could be better so I put the idea on hold  and spent some time in school. I got the background in photography to complete my fantastic plan!

6. What’s next for you in photography?

Oops! I think this is mine?

Good question, I think we will have to wait and see, things seem to be exploding in great ways so I’m looking forward to seeing where it all takes me. It’s a fast car and I’m enjoying the ride!

7.  If you could name any way/shape/form/person/set up/scene/wardrobe for the “ultimate dream come true shoot”, what would it be?

 Just looks glamorous, doesn't it?

Oooooh! I would love to go back in time and do a photo shoot during the 1940’s era, a Glam Hollywood Starlet on set of a movie….that would be the ultimate shoot for me!

7a. Now what needs to happen to make that come true?

Well, looks like we are just about finished here...

No going back in time but It’s not hard to get the look, I can see that being a shoot in the near future….The holiday line of dress’ are being worked on currently and the theme is Old Hollywood Glamour so I see the photo shoot happening before we know it!

Bye bye! Come see me again!

I sure hope you enjoyed the photos as much as Tammy and I had making them! The blog has mini pictures on it so they load quick for you, though if you would like to purchase a  signed print, just contact Tammy Cochran through her website www.dollfacebettys.com and let her know what size!
